@LolaViolet when and what are you doing when you feel these? You don't say anything about where the shock is coming from?
Best AnswerYou don't say if your friend had her tracker on or what tracker it was, or if it iwas on the same arm as the pain?
In theory if enough current went through a nerve it could cause this, but this much current without other symptoms like your tracker burning up, would be impossible.
Fitbit is not able to put out any amount of current that could do this, and the voltage is less than half of a 9 volt battery.
I could see, if the device your charging the tracker with was faulty, that it might cause a shock, en so this would be unlikely since current requires a path and the user would most likely be a dead end.
It would also be possible that there was a static built up and it discharged when touching near or the tracker.
Best AnswerMy new FitBit Ionic burned my wrist. I have a burn mark that's about an inch in diameter. It looks like a bad sunburn and like the skin is about to peel. This happened after I had worn it about a week and a half, just after I washed my hands and got a little water under it. You're supposed to be able to swim in it, so I'm surprised washing my hands did this.

Getting it a little wet should not hurt, but no Fitbit says no swimming.
If it was n electrical shock, you would feel it before seeing.
It sounds like dermatitis possibly because of soap caught underneath.
What exactly caused it I'm not sure. I suggest cleaning with a soap free product and move it to the other arm to give the arm a rest.
Best AnswerI did feel it first, and then immediately after I felt it I had a square burn in the shape of the mid section of the watch where the light blinks and the little metal pieces are. The burn appeared within 3-5 seconds after the zap, so no dermatitis from trapped soap.
I stopped wearing it for three days, turned off the heart rate monitor, made the band looser, and we'll see what happens.
Hi - I see I'm replying about a year after your post. I'm wearing my Fitbit Alta for the first time today and have experienced shocks in my wrist several times in the first 8 hours (walking or sitting). Band is not tight. I'm curious if you found a fix or did you return. Thank you, albeit, a year later. (Per other posts, I'm wondering if I'm one of those "static people."
I put on my brand new Fitbit Alta yesterday and was having shocks all day throughout my body. My leg would randomly jolt like the doctor was testing the nerve. My arms would spasm for millisecond shocks. Like little electrocutions all day. I'm never putting these pulsating green lights on my skin again. This has me very concerned if it has done damage to my nervous system.

Had a Fitbit 2 for over 2 years and got a large electrical shock today by inadvertently having a finger on the bottom while taking the unit off. I believe the problem is severe and will discontinue using the device! Will purchase something safer.

I’ve experienced this with the Fitbit I had last year. Now my 8 year old son has been complaining that his Ace is shocking him also, so I came on the web to see if it’s happened to other ppl. I see now-it does!! I will be contacting Fitbit!!
I was unable to attach the picture of my wrist, but I was shocked pretty hard while sleeping 3 nights ago. I thought I'd had a bizarre dream until I woke up and took off my fitbit to get my shower. My wrist had burn marks at the metal clasp and then around one side of the wrist. Again, happy to provide a picture, but the camera on this doesn't actually allow you to browse to a photo...
