Enable Notifications, App Crashes (android)

Hello all, and thanks for the help. I recently received a fit bit blaze. I have already followed the instructions in the guide, as well as the other thread about not recieving notifications.

My blaze has notifications turned on, it is connected via Bluetooth to my phone and it's a supported S7. When I go in the app to enable notifications  (text, call, music) the app will get to the screen where you hit enable and then crash saying the app stopped working. Every time there after, the screen will no longer appear, the app just automatically crashes. I have deleted my blaze, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, deleted cache and data, re added the blaze to no avail.

Any suggestions?

I have been facing the same issue since I bought fitbit blaze couple of weeks back. Then for a different reason I downloaded 'Microsoft Outlook' app couple of days back. Today when I tried again to setup the notification it worked!!

It seems that for email notifications, Fitbit supports only few clients. Before downloading Outlook I did not have any email app on my phone which is supported by Fitbit and hence it crashed every time.

Solution:

Download Microsoft Outlook app on your phone (you don't have to setup any account in outlook only having the app will suffice) and then try to set your notifications and it will work. Incase you dont want to keep the outlook app on your phone after verifying that the notifications are working fine, you can go to Notifications tab on Fitbit app, disable 'email notification' first and then uninstall the Outlook app. Once you disable 'email notifications' it will not matter whether you have any email app. The notifications will work seamless after this.

Let me know if it works!

A warm welcome to the Community @keduncan3. Thanks for troubleshooting this inconvenience by yourself. Have you check if  your app is updated? If you haven't, I recommend following the instructions provided in the How do I update my Android Fitbit app? post.

I hope this helps, let me know the outcome. Woman Happy

Thanks for the reply! I followed your instructions but it didn't seem to help.

The problem started after my app updated via Google play recently.

You are welcome and thanks for the information @keduncan3. Sometimes when that happen to me I force quit the app and it starts working again. If you haven't do a force quit you just need to do the following:

1. Tap the icon in the lower left corner

2. Tap Clear all

Then try to use the app again.

Catch you later. Woman Wink

I am having exact same issue. Samsung Galaxy note5. Brand new fitbit blaze. At first i thought it was just because so many people were setting up new FBs. So i gave it a day, reinstalled app, reconnected and app still "stops working" (crashes) everytime i hit enable notifications.

Very strange, one of the moderators needs to forward this bug to a fit bit Tech team

It worked!!! As soon as I downloaded the Microsoft Outlook App, the "enable notifications menu" was then accessible on the FitBit app.  Thanks to whoever figured that out  there are some mad pwople on some other forums that need this info too 🙂
