Hi,

Just a little feedback on purchasing a new Blaze.  I steered clear of smart watches deliberately as I like my 'real' watch, but after a fitness band lasted all of 2 weeks last year due to a stupid bracelet desing, I decided to give the blaze a whirl.  Mainly because of the battery life and the fact it uses a proper watch band.

Anyway, I paid for the watch and obviously wanted to use it right away.  I paired it to my phone and was given no option but to update - a process that might take 10 mins it warned. At this stage all I wanted to know was how much battery the device has, and to start doing some basic step tracking until I get home.

15 mins later and a second attempt due to some error, the battery dies on fitbit.  Guess that answers the question of how charged it was.  Obviously I put my real watch back on and packed the fitbit back in its box until I got home.

At home, the update took something in the order of 25 mins with my phone on WiFi (to ADSL capable of about 12Mb) whilst he fitbit was in the charge cradle.

So feedback/request is:

1)  Please allow the battery percentage to be read straight off the device/alongside the update progress bar.  I can see it there in the phone app now, but not when it jumped straight into the update.  I can also see a hit of battery level on the 'today' screen but it's way too dim to read properly and I certainly never noticed if it was there upon unpacking.

2)  Please allow the initial update to be postponed until you get home to charge the device for the first time.  The devices surely work on older software, so let your new customers live the excitement of getting a new device and using it right away.  I'm sure you could add a timeout value of 24 hrs or something to force the update based on when the device is linked to an account - or else just add a nag in the phone app.

Hey ! I m sorry to hear about your problem. I faced the same when I wanted to wear the Blaze right away!

Hope fitbit resolves the issue so that future owners don't face the same. Have a nice day !

Hey there guys @Safvi @Disorganise, thank you so much for your feedback!

This has been brought to attention before and actually there are some similar feature requests about it.

-Battery % on App and/or Dashboard

Now, when it comes to postponing the update to a later time, there is no request for it but you can feel free to create a new request in the Feature Request Board and the more people voting for it, the more chances for it to be implemented.

Anything else you may need, let me know! 🙂
