Why is my fitbit not tracking my steps. I photographed a wedding on Saturday and it said I only took 9,000 steps for the whole day and I know for a fact that is not correct given that i was standing from 1:30 to 9pm. Is it because I was holding my camera and not actually swinging my arm? If so I think this is ridiculous considering what I paid for it.

I would have thought it was more to do with that when standing holding a camera you are not walking.
How can you be so sure the number is wrong?

Just a note that might help explain things. Your tracker wants to see 5 steps before it starts counting. Take 4 steps, stop, no steps counted. Take 5 steps, stop, 5 steps are added.
Another note, as a photographer while setting up a picture you probably are holding the camera pretty steady, this may keep the tracker from noticing the feet are moving.

Thank you for the note about the 5 steps. It explains a lot. I have wished that it could track steps when my hand is busy looking at my phone while walking. However, I realized that if my wrist is steady, the device has no way to detect a step. At least it doesn't count clapping as steps like some of the competing devices that my friends use.
