is the Fitbit app the same for both the Alta and Blaze?  I have the Alta but recently purchased Blaze from QVC .  the sales person was not sure if I had to download a different fitbit app or if it   will work with the existing app.

The app is the same. On the dashboard of the app tap on the upper right icon (the one that looks like a document page). On the next screen that shows up scroll down to the 'set up a new device' tab. Tap that and then select the Blaze and follow the instructions to add the Blaze.  Note that you have have both units linked to the account (assuming you still have the Alta) and can switch back and forth between the two devices. The software will merge the data when you sync.
