FitBit Blaze tracking problem with Cybex ARC Elliptical

Our gym just got new ellipticals by Cybex (Arc Trainers) after getting rid of Life Fitness ellipticals, and comparing  my steps for the same pace on each machine for one hour, the CYBEX has dropped dramatically.  60 minutes on Life Fitness netted me 7,200 steps and on the Cybex, I struggle to get to 6,000.  Also, the Cybex is showing me traveling 4 miles while the Blaze is counting only 3 miles.  I checked my settings for my stride and that's still accurate.  I also manually have counted my steps on the CYBEX machine and the watch is just not keeping up accurately.  Does anyone know why there's a tracking issue?  I am totally demotivated now, to even get on these wonderful new machines & considering ditching the Fitbit.  Help!

They are 2 different technologies. They will never match. Also Elliptical is not step based so your stride will not come into play either.

Another reason you are holding on to bars on the Elliptical and it needs to see your arms swinging

Thanks Wendy. I will try it "hands free" and see if that matters. FYI: The old elipticals were accurate, WITH my hands on the handle bars, so it's perplexing. My worst case is to stop using my FitBit because I can't regularly use a treadmill due to knee issues, so I hope hands free works!

Thanks again,
