Fitbit Blaze Setup & Charging UX

I'm typically well-versed with technology, but I could not initially figure out how to charge my Blaze. When I first turned it on, the device was on low battery but prompted me to proceed with a software update after I successfully paired it. When I attempted the update, the tracker informed me the battery needed to be charged first. There were neither instructions on paper nor at fitbit.com/setup, and I had to search for a video to teach me that I could pop the device out of the wristband enclosure. After I charged the device and performed the update, the setup process untimely informed me how I could charge my device.

Areas of improvement in the UX would be:

  1. Let users pick the tracker on fitbit.com/setup, then give some brief getting-started instructions that include charging. Deferring to installing the phone app itself is only semi-useful.
  2. Defer OS/firmware updates after the initial charge and setup procedure. This would allow the user to get familiar with the basics before updating the device. Typically, the OS update is not that urgent or necessary to do so before initial setup.

Even if a help link helped, the problem I see is that a new user is immediately sent to a help document for what I believe would be a very common use case for first-time setup. That part of the setup was just not very well-documented or intuitive and could use some improvement IMHO.
