Fitbit Blaze - walking or elliptical

Most days I go for a decent walk - 5kms - 10km (occasionally up to 15 kms). I average about 10.ins per km and include hills. I wear my Fitbit blaze all the time and just let it do its thing. Sometimes it tracks my walk as "walking" other times as "elliptical" - why would this be?

Mine used to do the same. I don't think it's a precise science and depends on its interpretation of your movement. As I never use an elliptical I just removed it from the list of things it tracks and now it always reports walking. If you'd like to do the same there are instructions in this help file:

Thank you. It just seems really odd because I don't think I do anything differently 😄
