GPS not accurate

Hi

I recently bought a Blaze after 2 years with a Surge.

I find it annoying that the new Blaze doesnt track my bike rides but the Surge did unless connected to phone

The worst aspect is that when doing a run Ive done many times before, which is 8km according to my Surge and Nike+ Running app on my phone, however my new Blze is measuring it as 6.5 k. Does the blaze not have a working GPS tracker?! This seems baffling. It really affects me as I run competitively so need ideal split times/tracking

Hi @Samw187! Great to have you in the Community Forums! 🙂

I'm sorry you're having problems with the distance on your tracker not showing up correctly for your bike rides and runs.

Your Fitbit tracker determines your distance traveled based on your stride length. It multiplies the amount of steps you've taken by your stride length and this will give the distance.

Now, the Fitbit Blaze also works with what we call Connected GPS. This means that the tracker itself doesn't have a built in GPS system but will connect to your phone's GPS to give you more accurate distances when you're recording activities like running, biking or walking. For this, make sure to go to the exercise shortcuts screen on your Blaze, here look for the exercise you're about to do, wait for it to connect to your phone. For this have the Fitbit app open or at least running in the background.

Once it connects, start your activity, then stop it when done and sync your tracker to your dashboard to see your information. The distance should appear more accurate after this.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more help! 🙂
