GPS tracking for running issue

I took my blaze out on a run for the first time today. I always had issues with the GPS not correctly tracking on my surge which I got in a prerelease in 2014 so was hoping the technology had improved. To my disappointment I had the same issues with it tracking as I had with my surge. The park I run in has distinct mile markers so I observed where the tracker was at the beginning and end of that mile marker. It was basically coming in at 0.75 instead of a mile. In the course of a 5.5 mile run it basically was telling me I'd run almost a mile less than I actually had...I also had map my fitness running which I also verified using the mile markers to be tracking accurately. I love the interface of the blaze but gps tracking is a major feature that will determine if I keep this product or not and it needs to work correctly or it's a complete waste. I have an iPhone 6 and went through all of the blaze gps setting up to ensure it worked properly. Any advice is appreciated otherwise I'm returning.

@Megank428, There is a huge difference between the  Blaze and the Surge, the former uses "Location Services" embedded in your smart phone, the latter uses in-built GPS; two very different technologies.

Regarding the park you run in; does it have a lot of sharp, bends, twists, turns, or curves?  If so, then from a generic perspective, all location tracking devices will have a very high degree of error.  Just for kicks and grins, try running with your Blaze and/or Surge on a straight out and back course and see if the accuracy is better.

Welcome to the Forums @Megank428 and @shipo thanks for stopping by and the information.

As our friend here mentioned, Surge and Blaze are two different trackers, keep in mind that Surge have already GPS included while Blaze works with connected GPS. I recommend following the tips provided by our friend @bcalvanese in the Things You Can Do To Make The Blaze More Accurate post.

I hope this helps, catch you later. Woman Happy
