HR readings

I am new to the Fitbit community. I just bought the Fitbit Blaze. I have a couple questions.... I'm am noticing wide swings in my HR readings on my Fitbit. It reads 55 Bpm one second and than jumps up to 113 Bpm when I'm not even doing anything but sitting down. Also it sometimes records that I took stairs and I didn't. Are these known issues or am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance.

Hi there @VictorB. Welcome to the Community! 🙂

When it comes to the heart rate readings, I would say, just make sure you're wearing your tracker not so tight but just enough as for it to keep constant contact with your skin to get more accurate readings. Make sure you're wearing it at least about one finger width above your wrist bone and about three fingers when you're exercising.

Note that if you remove your tracker but it keeps moving, for example if you put it in a pocket or backpack, the tracker may display an erroneous heart rate reading. To prevent this by turning off heart rate tracking when the tracker is not in use, log into your dashboard and go to Settings > Devices to turn your Heart Rate Tracking to "Off."

Now, when it comes to the stairs, your tracks registers one floor when you’ve gone up about ten feet, which is the average between residential and commercial floor heights so even if you're not quite going up the stairs but you're walking on ground that has an elevation, this might be the result.

Hope this answers your questions and if you need anything else, let me know!

Also note that it uses an Altimiter to gather changes in elevation. This works on air pressure, so windy days, storms blowing in/out, general weather changes, etc can impact this.
