Heart Rate Monitor Doesn't Register During Exercise

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I enjoy my Blaze and use it with my Vitality membership so recording activity rewards me with more than the obvious health benefits. However, just recently there has been an issue with the heart monitor function during exercise of any kind [treadmill, elliptical, workout] and it just doesn't record any heart rate whatsoever. I've tried setting the heart monitor to "on" and "auto" without success. All other functions work correctly -steps/calories/time. Frustrating because without the heart rate function operational my efforts just don't attract any points from Vitality.

Is there an known issue/fix for this?

Hello @Strachp2, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board!

I am sorry to hear you are going through this situation with your Fitbit Blaze not tracking your heart rate during exercise. Thank you for your efforts to resolve this. I totally understand how you are feeling since you enjoy your tracker and use it with your Vitality membership. I am glad to hear that all other functions work correctly. I would like to confirm if your device tracks your heart rate when you're not doing any exercise?

Occasionally the tracker can have difficulty finding a signal, typically due to the tracker's fit. For example, wearing your band tightly may constrict blood flow in your wrist and affect the signal. I recommend experimenting with how high you place the tracker on your wrist. When you're not exercising, wearing the tracker just above the wrist bone--as you would a watch--typically works fine. However, moving the tracker up a couple inches can be helpful during high-intensity exercises or exercises that cause you to bend your wrist frequently. Please review our recommendations for wear and other tips here

You can also try moving your device to your other wrist.

Keep me posted on the outcome!

Hi @LiliyaFitbit thanks for responding and taking time in highlighting some actions to take. The HR function is erratic at best even when not exercising and looking at the daily stats there are gaps showing over the last 2-3 weeks when it looks like I flatlined on several occasions. Sadly I’ve already gone through the recommendations list of everything you’ve detailed as these are all suggestions from the help section, with the exception of changing wrist. But frankly, if I have to change (fundamentally) where I wear the Fitbit (without any success guaranteed) then, I’m kind of resigned to the notion that after 16 months the HR no longer functions correctly and there is no other resolution other than replacement.

Hi @Strachp2, thank you for your reply. I am sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks so much for taking the time to troubleshoot the issue you're experiencing with your Blaze. I appreciate your efforts and the additional details. If you haven't done so, I'd like you to restart your device as described in this help article. This will refresh your device internally. Please monitor your tracker during the next 24 hours and let me know how it goes.

Looking forward to your response!
