Heart Rate, Step Counting and Restarting Issues?

Hi,

I recieved my Blaze in July after using my Charge HR for over a year. I have been very happy with it until recently as I have noticed some strange things happening.

  • Heart Rate - I have been noticing almost every morning my hear rate reads incredibly high considering what I am doing and gets "stuck" there. For example, I am sitting at my desk and I noticed my Fitbit was reading a 110ish HR in the Fat Burning Zone. There's no way this is correct. What I have to do to "unstick" it is shut off the HR monitor and turn it back on. Sure enough it started reading correctly and my HR was actually around 68. Big difference! This concerns me quite a bit.

  • Steps - I have been noticing, even just a moment ago, my Blaze hesitates when I am about to hit another 1,000 steps. For example, I was about to hit 20,000 steps the other night so I was watching the last few steps add up on my wrist. However, the tracker hit 19,999 and then got stuck for maybe 5 minutes despite me continuing to walk. I just experienced the same exact thing happen when I was hitting 5,000. It went up to 4,999 and stopped despite my walking.

  • Resetting - Less specific but I have been finding that my tracker freezes and then restarts very randomly? It happens when I am moving from the stats screen back to "Today" and back to the time screen. It seems to get overwhelmed and then completely reset.

Has anyone experienced any of this before? Is there anything I can do? As of now I have not recieved the newest update that includes the new clock faces, reminders, etc. I really didn't experience problems like this with my HR nor the Blaze when I first got it so I'm at a loss.

Thank you 🙂

I have noticed the same issue with my heart rate. It usually doesn't get stuck very often. When it does get stuck reading 30+ bpm higher than it should I restart the watch and it works fine. Not sure what goes wrong. Hopefully a future firmware update fixes this issue. They must be working really hard at updating the firmware because there hasn't been a firmware update in quite a few months.

I haven't experienced that issue of the steps. Personally I'd see if it gets stuck at 4,999 only when you are watching the steps on the Today screen. Try hitting 5000 steps while not looking at it and see if it goes above that when you are not looking at it.

Freezing and then restarting is not a good sign. My Blaze maybe has restarted once or twice in its lifetime when I didn't tell it to restart. If it is very consistent, I'd call fitbit support. You should still be within the warranty window and if it is restarting, then you might need to get a replacement tracker.

Hope you get things working for you really soon.

With so many complaints about the same issues it seems that Fitbit would push out a solution instead of treating each as an individual problem.  I have  tried resetting,   turning the HR monitor on and off, and just leaving it off..  Nothing seems to reset it.  I've been tracking with a Fitbit since April.  For th last seven days my resting rate has been stuck at 74 instead of moving between 69 and 72 as has been normal.  When I walk across the room it will jump to over 100, this can't be correct.  I've given up on the stair count, neither the Charge HR nor the Blaze will accurately count stairs.  I get a general idea of how many calories that I've burned, but given the many problems, this may not be entirely accurate, just overall  an idea of where I am throughout the day as far as exertion and overall activity, not an accurate portrayal.
