Inaccurate calorie burn estimation on different activities

Hi - im new to the BLaze (had the fitbit one before). So im a little confused - i did a 15 mile mountain bike ride in just over 60 minutes - it registered 235 cals with average speed of 14.2mph on mountain bike / off road. I then went on a 40 minute 3 mile walk and i registered 295 cals !! I wasn't out of breathe or panting on the walk but very much was on my bike ride ? Could it be where i am wearing my blaze ? Should i wear the actual monitor on my pulse point - i.e. inside my wrist?

I'm just very confused by it  - it just doesn't seem right. My mapmyride app (which i linked to fitbit) registered the 15 mile bike ride as 973 calories.

Any advice would be gratefully received - apologies in advance if imI'mmissing something really obvious.

I was a long time Fitbit guy, but switched to Microsoft Band three years ago because the calorie counts were way off.  Fitbit estimated I burned hundreds of calories more than I did.  Recently, my Band 2 broke and I test drove a friend's Blaze for a few days, hoping the heart monitor would improve calorie count accuracy.  The Blaze claimed I burned hundreds or calories more than I did.  If you are looking for a general tracking device, the Blaze is solid, but if you are looking for accurate fitness metrics, consider other options.  I ordered a Garmin Fenix 5s yesterday.  I'm hopeful it will provide accurate picture of my activity level.  At it's price, it better.
