Incorrect Mileage and Heart Rate

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I just received my Blaze yesterday.  I am having issues with the steps being correctly logged. I ran 6.5 miles on my treadmill this morning (I used the "run" exercise) and it currently says I only stepped 12,903 miles for 2.79 miles? (On Friday, March 11th I completed 11,949 steps and it calculated 5.52 miles using the Charge)

I have logged in and changed my stride lengths and I have reset my Fitbit.

My heart rate was also incorrect. It says that for more than 30 minutes my heart rate level was under 100 bpm. This is not possible.

Can someone help? I really don't want to have to return this. I was previously using a Polar FT4 watch and my Fitbit. I bought the Blaze so I wouldn't have to wear two devices.

I also forgot to add this. It also says I have completed 29 floors today??!?!

I'm not worried about floors, no extra calories given for them.
If as you say 11k of steps give you 5 miles and 13K gives only 3. This doesnt sound like a step problem but a miles calculaying problem.
Where you using any trackong mode on the Blaze? Free run and the connected GPS week not work for treadmill.

I don't think so. When I was using the Charge, I just put my Fitbit in my pocket because it used to double my steps (due to the swinging of my arms). I would use the mileage on my treadmill as my source of mileage.

Does that answer your question? I did go into the "run" exercise and turned off my GPS.

I too have a problem with distance. Some days 10,000 steps is around 4-5 miles, other days it's 3 miles. I walked a route that I know is 2.5 miles and it showed less than 2. Frustrating

I haven't messed with the steps enough to know what issues could be causing that, but I have tested the heart rate monitor. It should not be off by more than a beat or two while on the tread mill. I tested it twice on the tread mill and it was very precise when compared to  the Polar H7 chest strap. Sounds like you have a faulty device if you already did a hard reset and are still getting bad results. Make sure you are wearing the watch a little bit higher up on your arm than your normally would.

It is VERY FRUSTRATING!!! I never had issues with my Fitbit Charge. I even measured my stride and changed it in my settings.
You would think with the amount of money we've spend on this, one wouldn't have issues with the heart rate or distance.?! Please help FITBIT, otherwise I'll be forced to return this. 😞

Yes, I've reset it twice and changed my stride measurements in the settings.
I had 3 Polar FT4 straps and had issues with them as well. In fact my workout that I do on my non-running days was almost 150 calories less than I normally get.
Very frustrating.  I hope I don't have to send it back!

I just got off the phone with Fitbit. The guy didn't know why my steps and mileage were not matching up. I explained to him that on Tuesday of this week I ran 6.5 miles on the treadmill, the distance showing on my display only said 1.44 miles?! I've read on here where some people are just using the "workout" option and getting better results. He then told me that since I use MyFitness Pal to log my exercise it over rides the activities on Fitbit??? Never had this issue when I used my Charge? 10,000 steps is a mile. I logged 14,722 steps yesterday and my display says my distance is only 3.24 miles?? FIX THE GLITCH! What's the point of having all of thesea bells and whistles if I'm not going to use them?

Seriously considering the Fitbit Charge HR and going back to the struggle of finding a HR strap that works.

I'm frustrated beyond words.

I am consistantly getting 4.0-4.3 miles for over 11,000-13,000 steps. This is totally off. I have my stride set and I know I am walking at least 5 miles, if not more. Definite glitch!! Please fix this.

I feel your pain. Don't bother calling Fitbit. Read my post above. I'll never get the 41 minutes I spent on the phone with them back. LOL

I ran 6.5 miles again this morning. I used the "treadmill option" and it only gave me 3.81 miles this time. the heart rate monitor was a little better.

Anyone out there using MyFitness Pal along with their Fitbit app? I've always logged my exercise through that app (since they are suppose to sync) and I got a double workout . Check out the difference in heart rate and calories. This really makes no sense to me?!?!?

This is the workout one that my Fitbit calculated, but the mileage was COMPLETELY off.  The second is what I entered via MyFitness Pal. The calorie count is based from my treadmill (and what I used to get when I wore my chest strap.) 2.jpg

I'm having similar issues.  I am on my SECOND blaze and i'm not sure what is going on.  I had the flex in the past, which had my walking 2,120 steps/mile about 10,500 steps for 5 miles.  With my first blaze i was needing to walk 13000+ steps to hit my 5 mile mark!!  after not one, not two, but three calls/chats with support, they sent me a new blaze.  Now it is better, but STILL not accurate.  It is saying i have to walk 12500 steps to get 5 miles.  thats an extra 400 steps per mile! I'm so frustrated at this point.

Before you tell me to restart my blaze, or change my stride length, i have already done that numerous times.

Sararice10,  trust me...that's the last thing I'll tell you. LOL

That seems to be the "solve all" everytime I call for a solution.

I got to talking to my co-workers today about this and somone suggested increasing my stride length to something higher (like 4-5 inches) and see if that helped. I am going to give this thing ONE more chance and then I am going to forced to return it. It's sad, because I really really wanted to like this!!

Have you had any issues charging your battery? Do you use any additional apps, such as MyFitness Pal?

I certainly hope that Fitbit realizes that there IS AN ISSUE and fixes the glitch (firmware)!! So many people are having issues,  you can't tell me that it's just mine. *rolls eyes*

No matter how much higher I change my stride length, the number of steps I need will not budge from around 13,500 and I need it to be no higher than 12,500 for 5 miles.

SunriseGirl,

Hmmm...well. Crap. I was hoping that woud be a solution. Have you talked to anyone from Fitbit?

When you workout, do you use any of the "apps" on your watch or do you just use the timmer or "workout"?

thank you Irishchickie81! i'm going to set my stride length to 3 feet, since before it was at 2 ft 6 inches (which is my actual stride length).  I would rather it be a little generous with miles rather than the other way around!!  if this doesn't get fixed I will be returning it.  SO mad/sad.

@Irishchickie81, I would still try, maybe you will have better luck. I have not talked to Fitbit as no one else seems to be getting any solution to this. I have used the apps from the watch many times but with that I am usually only concerned about my heart rate and not the distance its giving me. The exception is the connected GPS....first time I may have not had the Fitbit app running in the background so it was a mile off (probably resorted to the faulty stride length) but two other times it worked spot on. I otherwise really love the Blaze more than my Charge HR (especially since the Blaze holds my Hear Rate reading better) but the discrepancy with steps to miles is very upsetting and disappointing.

@SunriseGirl, do you run inside or outside? When you do run, what "app" do you use (Run, Walk, Treadmill etc)?

I agree with you. I am concerned about my distance not being correct and my heart rate. Make those two things right, and I'll be a happy camper.

So you like this better than the Charge HR?

@Irishchickie81, I am not a big runner so I use "Walk" outside with connected GPS. I walk fast with some jogging intervals. The Blaze lays so much better on my arm and may be why I get much better heart rate readings on this than the Charge HR. That is actually the only reason I switched and I will even pick heart rate over steps but I really need the steps to be at least reasonably close/accurate.
