Mileage not being registered

Got my Fitbit blaze yesterday and went for a 4.10 mile hike and my Fitbit only registered it at 2.87 miles. I have done this hike at least 50 times and it's always been the same with my Garman. So why is the Fitbit not registering the right amount of mileage?

I dint think the Blaze has a GPS built in so, like me, you will need your phone connected to use its GPS to accurately log mileage.

So I got a  iMessage saying that I needed to bring my phone to get correct mileage. Is that just for the first time so that it can sync or do I have to bring my phone every single time? The whole idea for me to get this watch was so that I did not have to bring my phone

If you don't have the phone with you, you will need to setup the stride.
