Your phone's OS may not be compatible with the music control feature. You can check it at:
https://www.fitbit.com/devices
I had not tried before now, I went to settings turned pairing on, went to bluetooth settings on the phone, did a search and paired them. Then I had to go to the settings for the paired device and allow it to be use for input which is pause, play, ff, rew, and volume.
Keep in mind that while you're using this feature, the Bluetooth radios in both devices are always on. This will drain the batteries in both a lot quicker. The range of the Bluetooth radio in the Blaze is very short and trying to control the music player from the Blaze can create a hazaardous distraction. I would recommend using a set of Bluetooth earbuds.

@mysterymeat actually your Bluetooth Classic is not in full communication mode until you start pressing buttons to control music.. Then it goes back to standbye. The phones BT is in listening mode.
@Lukefb have you tried the suggestions above? Restarted the Phone, when trying to pair do you accept the code on the Blaze first?
