Navigation question

When I am in the exercise menu, for example bike, I connect to my phone and start my exercise just fine. I then pull down my shirt sleeve and put on my gloves and this invariably hits the pause button on the menu. Is there a way to navigate away from this menu so the pause button cannot be accidentally enabled?
