I have been seeing accessories for blaze that would  allow for wear as necklace. Would this record accurate data this way?

It's great to see you here @Mystiq568. Keep in mind that the Blaze was designed for you to wear in your wrist. At the moment of using it at other part of your body, it might not be as accurate as it should be.

I’m sure the heart rate monitor would not work, but what about keeping track of steps. Sometimes at work I just need to know I have messages and having it on my wrist interferes with typing. The other features are for the gym!!
