New Fitbit OS(Ionic OS) on Blaze ?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi,

As you know, FitBit introduced the new smartwatch, Ionic. A completely new Pebble OS-based FitBit OS is preinstalled on this device. Blaze is a smartwatch also, so any probability for getting FitBit OS update for this device, what are you think ?

Thanks.

Hi there @SunsetRunner. Great to see you in the Community Forums! 🙂

That's a very interesting question and I'd really like to know the same but as of right now, we don't have any information on plans for the OS on the Ionic being implemented on the Fitbit Blaze.

Any update will be shared here in the Community for sure, so keep an eye here now and then for the latest news on firmware updates.

Any other question you may have, I'm here to help!

Also very curious about this. Has there been any news in the past few months? If the Blaze will receive all the new os updates, and have access to the same APPs.

Hi @KeenCommander @ivanng2014, great to see you around! 🙂

We still don't have any updates on this, so I wouldn't want to set any false expectations on the matter. Please keep an eye on the Forums for any update.

Just a guess but I wouldn't be surprised if the Blaze isn't powerful enough to run Fitbit OS. One issue would definitely be available memory, it would need free memory to store the Ionic apps. Obviously I don't know how much onboard storage the Blaze has, but I'm betting its not much.

I agree with you on this @N8teGee. Despite not having any official announcements on this and not having information on the exact memory capability of the Blaze, in my personal opinion, I think the hardware on the Blaze would not make it possible to run the same software as on the Ionic.

Great to see you around @N8teGee!
