Not calculating steps correctly

My partner and I both have fitbit blaze. We did and hours walk together - he did 6500 steps and I did 4900 on the same route, I have restarted the fit bit twice and can walk up to 30 steps before it kicks in and works. Any tips or do I have a dud?

Welcome to the forums!

They will never match. But you both need to make sure your strides are correct under settings.

This is why they will never match as your strides are different but they should be closer than what you reported. So I suspect someones stride is off.

Thank you I was on automatic but have now switched to 70cm pretty average. I can still walk 20 steps before it kicks in which doesn't seem normal and where my error is coming from. Is there any way to completely re-boot it?

Hey there @Bee_Dee! Thanks for following the advice provided by @WendyB. If your Blaze isn't tracking your steps once you start walking, then please restart your tracker

- When does it started happening?

- Does the screen froze when you're walking or does it not track anything at all?

- Is it just happening with the steps?

Hope this helps. Keep me posted. Smiley Happy

Just adding a note about step counting. The tracker should wait for 5 steos before it starts adding them, but at this time it shoukd increase the step count by 5. Walk 4 steps and stop no steps added, walk 5 steps and stop 5 should be added. I would do 6 steps to make sure there ehere 5 complete steps in arm movements recorded.

Hi,

i had had my steps setting on auto so I measured and checked to update it to the average 69cm. I'm 5 6" I just did a 7km walk which my phone correctly measured as per Google maps. 8000 odd steps but my fit bit said 3.9km and 4000 steps so massively out. I don't know what else to do to fix it other than returning it?

Any my help appreciated
