I just got my Fitbit today set it up I've noticed it counts my steps really well but when I'm cooking with my dominant arm that it's on it starts counting it like steps like more than 1000 over what I know from my phone. I already reset it and step checked it fixed my stride and change my hand settings to set to dominate had and it do anything what to do to fix it otherwise I'm just going to get an Apple Watch

Hi there @Maysamcdowell. Great to see you in the Forums! 🙂
Fitbit trackers have a finely tuned algorithm for step counting. The algorithm is designed to look for intensity and motion patterns that are most indicative of people walking and running. When working at a desk, cooking, or doing other arm movements, a tracker on your wrist can pick up some extra steps if it thinks you're walking. Many of these situations (such as working or maybe cooking in your case) do include a few steps in-between stationary periods so the tracker tries to give you credit for those steps. For the vast majority of customers, the amount of stray steps accumulated is negligible when compared to the entire day.
If you notice this to be still a huge amount for you, you can take it off and put it on the other hand if you'll not be using it as much as the one you normally wear your tracker on to prevent it from counting too many steps.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else! 🙂
