Overnight step count not resetting - continued

An update on my blaze reset issue:

My Blaze didn't reset its step count on Friday morning at midnight.  I've tried all the troubleshooting listed in this forum:

  1. Reset the unit several times.  I didn't have the charging cradle with me.  Not sure if that is an issue.
  2. Tried adding the "driving" activity to zero-out the extra steps, but couldn't get that to work.
  3. Sync'd the device several times.

I'm getting several badges because it looks like I'm racking-up a HUGE step count, which I'm not.  There's no way to simply change the step count to what it should be?  I ended yesterday with 8692 steps and it's currently showing 10,091.

Additional info:

It's now Saturday and the step count is back to zero, but for yesterday's total, I show 16,000+ steps, which would have been Thursday and Friday combined.  I have all sorts of badges (which I didn't earn) and my Weight Watchers app, which gets its activity info from Fitbit, is all jacked up.  Is there ANY way to go back and "fix" the data for 2/9?

Do you turn the tracker off at night, this is the number one cause of the step count not resetting at night. Number two is when changing timezones around midnight.

As do reset. That is simply a restart and will not affect previously recorded steps.

The night it didn't reset, I did turn it off.  Last night, I kept it on and it was fine.  My question is: is there any way to "fix" the 16,000 steps for Friday or am I stuck with that, because it still shows 16K steps.

Not really since the steps where recorded yesterday and carried over. You can remove some of Fridays step by logging a period of driving.

I tried that but it didn't seem to work.  Can you walk me through it or point me to a decent tutorial?  Basically, I need to eliminate about 8,000 steps from 2/9.

You need to find a time period where 8K of steps where taken. Now manually add a record called driving

That's the problem.  I only show 8K of steps actually occurring.  The other 8K are phantom steps and only show up on my daily totals.
