Pausing exercise

I find that my Blaze will pause accidently when wearing a long sleeve shirt. Be nice if pausing required you to swipe instead of just tapping. This I believe would stop accidental pauses.

I do agree with this and have many times the same problem.

Even when I turn off the "auto turn on screen when wrist raised" does not solve the problem as you can simply tap the screen to turn it on during excercise. Blaze thiks a sweaty sleeve is the same as a finger.

Swiping or buttons would do the trick in pausing and stopping the excercise. Would like to get the asap. Very annoying now.

I am so bummed with this!  it would be fine as long as the auto detect thing worked and would kick in. My surge did that. I could then go and categorize them as needed.  I just did a three hour Fencing session and my workout only shows 56 minutes... grrr.

I found that if i turned my surge upside down it would not pause automatically, I will try that fencing on monday.

if want a solid case that I can wrap it up in so that it's protected AND won't shut off on me!  or a way that we can set  it so that we need some combination of swipe and button push to pause the exercise.

My Blaze quits tracking even with a short sleeve shirt. Nothing has touched it. Twice now it stopped completely while biking. The first time I thought I had caused it, so today I didn't touch it after I tapped go. It seems to quit around 40 minutes into a ride.

Hey there @EdBogan! I would like you to provide me with more details about what you experienced.

- Are you using Blaze and MobileRun?

- Is the map disappearing or the whole exercise?

- Are you using Android or iOS?

Keep me posted.

I turned it upside down and it didn't pause yesterday. I only fenced an hour. but I am hopeful

I'm using a iPhone 6 and am linked to it for gps tracking. It shut off completely and went to the watch screen.

Sounds to me like it paused and either stayed paused for too long and ended the workout or it paused and then said it was done. I had this happen to me as well.

Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

Up vote my post to get developers interested in fixing it. Other than that don't wear long shirts and check to make sure it didn't pause after doing anything with the arm the fitbit is on.

again guys..

I switched the direction of my watch so that it read upside down. and it did NOT pause for the hour that I was fencing on Monday.  I have a longer session coming up Sat and will test again.

Try it and see if it helps you too.

Hey guys @citradelic @MikeColwill and @EdBogan! It's pretty weird that this is still happening. I would like you to make sure that your tracker doesn't touch your wrist at all, so it doesn't pause.

Here are some tips in how to properly wear it:

  • Make sure your band isn’t too tight. Wear the band loosely enough that it can move back and forth on your wrist.
  • If you use Fitbit Charge HR™, Fitbit Blaze™ or Fitbit Surge™, for better heart rate readings during exercise, we suggest wearing the band so it’s secure, but not too tight, and wearing the band higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). Lower the band on your wrist and loosen it after exercise. Learn more.

Additionally, you may want to vote for this idea  Make Pause and Stop on the Blaze harder

Hope this helps.

Something does not make sense to me: "tracker doesn't touch your wrist at
all". I understand it has to be higher in the arm.

But this "issue" has NOTHING to do with in which part of the arm the FitBit
Blaze (in my case) is located.

It IS an issue with the *touch screen User Interface making pausing and
ending the workout way too easy accidentally*.

This is ONLY if you have something on with long sleeves that reach the
FitBit screen. And being in Finland that is the majority of the year.

So some minor modification in the touch screen is needed OR have the option
of using only buttons for pausing and ending the workout.

Of course one can wear the Blaze "upside down" below your wrist but I
should not have to resort to that kind of measures. And I have tried, does
not resolve the issue.

BTW I again has the issue this morning. Lifted my arm to check the pulse,
lowered arm and Blaze decided to pause the exercise.

I agree it has nothing to do with wearing the device correctly. It has everything to do with how easy it is to pause and end the workout. Which I find incredibly funny since changing the display from Distance to Heart Rate or anything else is at times extremely difficult.

no the real problem is When you bend your wrist it accidentally can hit the right bottom button and pause the workout
