I am now due a phone upgrade, and I am looking to get either get a Sony z5 or m5. However none of these are listed as possible phones for the bit bit blaze as an option. Theres does not seem to be anything newer than a z3. Will my blaze work with these newer phones?

With new Android phones coming out almost weekly, if not monthly, Fitbit has a big job trying to catch up.

My first thought would be to go down to the phone store and ask I'd the fitbit app can be installed, you now can test it. Being that the older models work there's a good chance that the newer will.

I dont think any phone store would allow me to download an app then try the
features with my phone, as some phones will only use some of the features.

Surely a brand as big as fitbit can keep an eye on new phones, or have
people in their community keeping them up to date with phones and possible
issues

@Timeissue A warm welcome to the Community! That's correct none of the phones that you listed are supported. However, Fitbit is always updating the list so everybody can enjoy the Fitbit app.

There are some phones that are able to sync data but I can't confirm it will work properly at all since aren't listed yet.

@Rich_Laue That's a great advice. @MikeS1971 Thanks for sharing your experience.
