Question about the clock

I noticed my Fitbit is 4 seconds slow (no big deal).

But I was wondering, does the Blaze set the time from the app when connected then, when not connected does it use internal quartz like a normal watch to display the time?

Right, not a big deal because the timer updates everytime you sync @walt73

It is a good question now we are tracking seconds with our Blazes so we know whether auto sync is adding value, answer - for sure.  Seconds are best left for "relative" measurements as designed - you know, ready-set-go! applications.

The timer is guided by a realtime clock built in to the Blaze's primary CPU: it maintains the time between syncs with a 32.768kHz crystal oscillator, susceptible to temperature variation of course.

My guess this portion of the onboard CPU is tuned for a 32-100 degree range, 10PPM accuracy, so in theory, to answer the 4 seconds slow question, that translates to within 5 minutes accuracy per year (if never sync'd).  A maintenance accuracy of 5 out of 525,600 mins a year can be looked at as 300 seconds out of 31,536k seconds per year,  5.76 out of 606,461 seconds a week, or a second every 105,288 seconds (29.24hrs).

Sync at least once a day and you will never be "off" more than a second (either way). My educated guess and advice if time keeping is critical to you.

Hi there @walt73. Good to see you around! 🙂

When it comes to the time on the Blaze, it's all digital. The time on the Blaze will be set by the time on your phone when it syncs and when not connected, the digital clock will work but it will need to sync every now and then to keep a precise reading. If your tracker is 4 seconds behind, I would recommend making sure that the automatic time is selected on your advanced settings in the account section and you can also try to restart your tracker by pressing and holding the left and lower right corner for 10-15 seconds and after it reboots and you sync it to see if the time is working fine.

Let me know how it goes.

As of last night, my Blaze became a full hour behind.  The Blaze was just upgreaded this past weekend.  Recharging and rebooting did not fix the problem.  How do I get the time corrected?

>>Disregard.  The Blaze just self corrected.  Mysterious.

Hi there @wesc223. Welcome to the Fitbit Community! 🙂

Glad to hear that it's all working fine now. Just as an advice, make sure that if you turn off your tracker or if it runs out of battery, when you turn it back on, make sure to sync it to your account and this will make the time to be right.

Anything else, le us know!

I jest received Blaze today and have been trying to reset time for 6 hours. It shouldn't be this hard. I've tried all the suggestions but no results. It is strange that it is 3hours and 25min fast. Any ideas? Thank you. Fitterlater

Hi there guys @Luv2garden @FITTERLATTER, good to see you in the Community! 🙂

@FITTERLATTER, have you already set up your tracker? Your tracker will adjust the time by syncing  to the Fitbit app on your phone or to your computer. If you're doing this on your phone, make sure to go to the applications store on your device and look for the Fitbit app or tap here and it will take you to a page where you can select what device you're using and download the app from there.

If you've not created an account, create a new one and if you already have, just log in with your email address and password. Once you're in, go to the Account section which is generally at the bottom right corner of your device and then look for the "Set up a new device" option. Follow the on-screen instructions and once the process has completed, you will see the correct time on your tracker.

If you're doing this from your computer, click here and go underneath the App option to download the software for the type of computer you have. Download it, install it and then do the same. Create an account or log in with your existing credentials and click where it says "Set up a new device" and follow the instructions making sure that you have a dongle connected on your computer or if you're using the Windows 10 app, that your Bluetooth is enabled so you can set up your tracker from the app on your computer as well.

After this process, the time should show correctly on your tracker and you shouldn't have any more problems with this.

Let me know if you need any more help!

Thank everyone for tying to help. I tried all the suggestions with no luck. Ended up calling Fitbit help. Rizzy walked me through resetting my Fitbit as new, and that did the trick.
