Just saw that the new Fitbit Alta has a "remind to move" feature.  What are the chances of this being added to the Blaze?  I feel like it would be an awesome addition!

@MelT I'm glad to hear you're interested!

We were excited for Reminders to Move on Fitbit Alta, which will help keep you active with hourly mini-goals. We’re also working to make this feature available in a future firmware release for Fitbit Blaze, but don’t yet have an estimated delivery date.

When cnet did their article on the Blaze following CES, they mentioned it had reminders to move.  Since then, they took that wording away, presumably because Fitbit was not ready to announce that feature yet.  Based on that, it seems like they already have the move reminders on the pre-release units.

Glad to hear they intend to add this feature to the Blaze.  I planned on purchasing the Blaze and then when they announced the Alta yesterday with the reminders to move and virtually all of the other features I wanted with the Blaze, I was compelled to get the Alta (why not get the less expensive option that offers more?), the only hesitation is that the Blaze has the bigger screen and probably better for reading texts, etc..  For now I think I will hold off and see if we get an estimate on the release of reminders to move on the Blaze.

Yeah, this needs to happen.  It is enraging to have something so important added to the Alta but not the Blaze.  The Alta doesn't have the features I want in terms of HR.  I am really tempted to cancel my Blaze pre-order and wait for a monitor that has idle alert and has HR monitoring.

@EmersonFitbit that is indeed good news. Will that be part of Blaze when it ships or will it come later?
Best Answer

There will be a firmware update soon after Blaze launches that will optimize the device to receive Reminders to Move, though it's unclear how soon after. I'm sure it'll be a speedy process. @Koshka

THATS awesome!!! I have long wanted this feature and have been jealous of other people that had this on Samsung and Apple watch devices. Really looking forward to Blaze (already preordered) and this feature.

I know that Reminder to Move is to be added as a firmware update to the Blaze and that this feature is going to be on the Alta.  I also know the Blaze just started being shipped and that the Alta hasn't been released yet.

I assume that the Blaze will not receive the firmware update for reminder to move until sometime on or after the Alta release.  Is this correct?

Assuming so, will the Blaze update for reminder to move come when the Alta is released or at a later point?  If later, can we narrow that timing down any?

Best Answer

I'm guessing we won't get it until after the Alta has been released and the Blaze gets it's first firmware update or maybe 2nd. With the Alta coming in March I wouldn't expect Blaze to get the update until April-May.

Hi, @Koshka , the official word is that they expect this feature to be added to the Blaze in a future update, but they have not announced any definite date or month. @EmersonFitbit wrote: " There will be a firmware update soon after Blaze launches that will optimize the device to receive Reminders to Move, though it's unclear how soon after. Yes, I've read all the prior stuff.  In fact, the language quoted was a response to me from @EmersonFitbit.  What I am wondering is if the timeing is more clarified now that the Blaze is shipping.

@Koshka @kfreckmann Still no wording on the exact date for Reminders to Move for Blaze, nor is it clear when they'll arrive in relation to Alta's launch. I'll keep everyone posted with information when the time comes!
