Sleep Tracking for those with sleep apnea

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My wife has the Shine and I have the Blaze. Hers seems to monitor sleep much better, period, from my Blaze. My apnea machine is telling me I am getting plenty of sleep, with an AHI of less than 5 episodes per hour. I am thinking that the apnea machine interferes with my Blaze's ability to properly track my " good" sleep. For example, last night my Blaze only recorded about 1.5 hrs of sleep (typical) , but my apnea machine delivered 6.5 hrs. Of sleep. I've tried switching arms and adjusting the sinsitivity level on my Blaze to no avail. I'm not normally tired after about 6.5 hrs. Of good sleep. Sometimes I am, but I'm retired, so I'm not nearly as active as when I was working. One or two energy drinks am I'm zipping around like a high school track athlete. Not that I'm recommending caffeinated drinks. They just do it for me. Let's chat and maybe we can figure out something by sharing data.

@SugarfooT123 it's nice seeing new faces around! Just out of curiosity, have you tried restarting your Blaze? Smiley Very Happy If you haven't already, please do the following:

  1. Press and hold the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the buttons.
  3. If your tracker doesn't work normally, use the instructions in How do I turn off my tracker? to turn Blaze off and back on again.

After the restart, keep an eye to your tracker's behavior when it comes to track sleep. Please keep in mind that you're comparing two different technologies and I'm guessing (please correct me if I'm mistaken Smiley Happy Heart Smiley Embarassed) was your apnea machine recommended to you by your doctor? Also, as a friendly reminder please note that Fitbit trackers aren't designed to be used as medical devices. On a different note, you might have noticed that I moved your post to the Blaze board as this was originally posted in the Charge HR board. In the correct board you'll be able to find more relevant info related to your tracker. Thanks for your help on keeping the Community a tidy and organized place for everyone. Smiley Happy

Thank you very much. I will give that a try, or the second reset option. I
do understand that my bipap machine and my Blaze are different
technologies. I was really trying to determine if my machine could be
affecting my Blazes ability to monitor properly. Because of the way it (
my bipap- full face mask/machine) forces air into my lungs. Anyway, it's
awesome to find others with similar issues. I remembered that the Fitbit
company sells an additional piece of equipment to work with a wrist device
to monitor sleep quality. I just thought I needed something else that
would make my Blaze work better. I'm going to work with others sharing
their issues here on this forum.

@SugarfooT123 is your sleep tracking set for normal?

Actually I am not sure. My wife keeps telling me I need to change that setting. I reset my Blaze last night before sleeping. It kinda showed my sleep. It recorded about 9 hrs of sleep, but it appears I was really restless all night. I forget to check my bipap's results. One of those days...Uno running right from bed to one have to do after another. I'll look into what setting my Blaze sleep level is. I just need a few moments of uninterrupted time to look into it. Thanks for response, I'll get back to you soon.  Tom C.
