Sleep stages and Battery inquiry

Hey everyone! I’m new to this whole Fitbit thing so I am going to try and ask my questions as simple as I can!

I purchased my Fitbit blaze a couple of days ago, I have noticed that once I fully charge it it’s only a short time before it displays battery medium? I will tell you that I receive a lot of text messages throughout the day, and as far as being at work all day I’m on my feet constantly.. so if this is normal display of battery let me know?!

Second question: the first day that I went to bed with my blaze it showed the sleep stages.. rem, deep etc. however, today it displayed just awake, restless etc. it said I reached my sleep goal? Could that be why? I read through tons of stuff and also have all day sync on and I have an iPhone.

Third question: can I charge my battery when it said medium or should I wait until it is dead? When it said medium before I charged it till it was full will that harm the battery?

please help! 🙂

Holly!

Hey @Hollyx3! 🙂 Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums! 🙂

I can sure help you out with these questions.

About the battery; it should last for at least 5 days with a regular usage. Now, keep in mind that checking your tracker constantly (which is pretty normal when you first get it) and receiving a bunch of notifications might make the battery to last less but it shouldn't drop down to less than 3-4 days. As you get used to your tracker and don't check it very often, you might notice the battery to last a little more but again, getting a lot of notifications will also impact the battery drainage.

On this same matter, there's no harm in charging your battery when it's showing medium but I personally prefer to do it until I get the low battery indicator.

Now, about the sleep stages, there are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed).
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

For more information about why you see your sleep pattern, tap or click the sleep record that shows your sleep pattern.

Hope this helps and if you have any other question, feel free to let me know!
