Sleep stages and heart rate issues

I bought my Blaze from Amazon last September and all worked great for about 12 weeks and then my Blaze stopped tracking sleep stages. It used to work very good but all of a sudden it now only records simplified sleep patterns. I have tried removing the app, restarting the tracker, different positions and band tightness on my wrist to no avail? I have noticed that sometimes by heart reading is also showing blank and then suddenly appears again at random times during the day?

Can anyone help with this please?

Did it start happening after the latest firmware update (402) by any chance?

This firmware was released in late October 2017.

I'm asking because for many of us, several problems started appearing with this release.

The sleep stages started to display simplified results only at the beginning of November so it may have been the firmware update that caused it.

@mastic_man and @alexa51 welcome to the Forums. @TheCyberKnight it's great to see you around.

Thanks for troubleshooting this by yourselves. There are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

Now about the heart rate reading, I recommend taking a look at this post and follow the instructions provided there.

I hope this helps, let me know how it goes. Man Happy
