I now it only records when going up and by 10 feet but today it's not recorded any does it use my phone as part of the stairs calculations? As have left it downstairs most of the time.

Also the blaze can tell if I'm walking or running or even driving but it still records the 10 feet raise as stairs when driving why?

The Blaze is looking for changes in the atmospheric pressure when it detects that the user is walking.

In a car the wind from an open window or just leaks may affect the pressure of the air and if thr car ride is bumpy stairs might be counted.
