Step count inaccurate

I've had my Blaze for only one day and so far I'm not very happy. The step count is very inaccurate. I can be lying in bed and move my arm and the Blaze counts my arm movements as steps. It only counts my actual steps if I move my arms. If I walk and hold up my arm to look at the watch it doesn't even register my steps. I had no problems with the Charge HR counting my steps regardless of arm movements, too bad it gave me an awful wrist burn. I've restarted as suggested but that didn't help. Any suggestions on a product that actually does what it is supposed to do. If it doesn't get any better, I will be returning:-(

Moving you arm will always cause steps to be recorded. Devices like this can not tell the difference. How would you expect it to do so.

I too am having this issue with my new Blaze and never had it with my old Flex.  I know there is another giant string on here on this problem from last month and after going through and trying to read it, I'm not sure anyone was actually able to offer a fix?  I just tested my theory - I walked around my office and counted my steps which came in at 124 but my Blaze only counted 104.  Doesn't sound like much but when you add that up for a whole day, you will be short 1,000-2,000 steps, depending on your movement which is NOT acceptable.

Right now, I'm right handed so I wear my Blaze on my left arm and in settings, have it on Non-dominant.  I saw someone on this thread suggest moving it to Dominant even if you are wearing it on your Non-dominant arm but I assume if your issue is it's counting too many steps from your arm movements and that isn't the case for me.

Anyone else have any ideas how to fix this?  I am more interested in my heart rate and how many calories I burn during exercise too but looking through old threads on this, we are NOT alone, many others are experiencing this same issue and after paying $200 for this thing, I agree this step count should be 100% accurate.  Isn't that what they were invented for in the first place?  Fitbit, please help with any suggestions on fixes!

As stated earlier, I never had this issue with the Charge HR in relation to arm movements. Also, my blaze is registering stairs even though I didn't go up or down any stairs. I'm not sure what the problem is.

Stairs are measured by having activity while the atmospheric pressure changes. Sometime a big weather front can move in and I will get 4-5 flights of stairs added. If you put your charge on again and bump your fist together, it will register steps, mine does. Heck I get over 1200 steps mowing the lawn while sitting on a riding mower.

What hand do you wear your fitbit on? This can effect the steps if you wear it on your dominant hand (the hand you use to write and eat). If so, make sure the settings are set to dominant hand, if not, Non Dominant-Hand. If that doesn't work I'd try checking your tracked is running version 17.8.301.4, you can see this in Settings>Version Number. If that is up to date turn it off and on again before you sleep and then when you wake up in the morning see if it is at 0, then about 1 hour into the day check the step count. If it is still very high about 5000, try contacting Fitbit support.

After a round of golf today my blaze counted less than 10,000 steps. Is there a fix for greater accuracy? Thanks
