I woke this morning to already doing 334 steps is this normal i have it paired to iPhone 5 i tried sync to reset it but didn't work

That sounds a little strange... Did you by any chance go to sleep after midnight? If so, the steps that were counted from 12:00 am until the time you went to bed could be those or it can also be that you woke up during the night or were very restless either before sleeping or after you woke up that moving your arms a lot in the morning could have been counted as steps.
In either case, I can recommend restarting your tracker. You can easily do this by pressing the left and lower right buttons for 10-12 seconds. This will make your tracker to reboot.
After that, keep an eye on your steps and also take the tips above into consideration and see if there's any difference.
