Steps vs. treadmill revolution

Doing a run this morning I logged 9.06 miles according to my Fitbit blaze. According to the treadmill is was 7.86. Also the avarage speed according to the watch was about a min faster then the treadmill. Is it possible to have a faster speed then what the treadmill says? Which is most accurate (did not hold on at all, I feel most steps were logged) thank you in advance

If you're on a treadmill then the only way the FitBit can calculate the distance travelled is by multiplying your step-count by your stride length.

Are you sure your stride length is defined correctly?

Walking yes. Running I supposed dependent on speed and incline the stride length could be variable
