Manually deleting steps

Does anyone know how to manually delete steps. Last night my Fitbit stayed on the charger all night and when I awoke I had 9454 steps. I tried the driving thing and that didn't work as it gave me no active minutes or anything other than steps. Even when I do the steps per hour view it shows no steps per hour but somehow there are still 9454 steps showing.

You must enter in the exact time of day it happened to remove the steps

I did enter the exact time but this also did nothing. It deleted 100 steps because that's all it showed I did that night. The other 9,364 steps don't show where they came from or a time range.
