Hi @Mick50,

The Fitbit detects arm motion to determine steps, so any activity where the arm might move can generate steps. I get a few extra steps while on a stationary bike. The step counting is automatic, so I don't know of any way to disable it. The good news is that steps aren't factored in to the calorie counts, so your calories burned should be unaffected by false steps.

Thanks for the response dave

as you say the calories do not count on the bike ride I checked this will removing the bike ride from Fitbit and added one from my fitness pal and the calories were similar, but the steps still add to your daily steps which may (but I don't know) add to your calorie output giving an untrue reading of calories burned. I don't expect a flawless bit of kit for the money, was just trying to find a solution lol I contacted Fitbit they were suprised at my problem which you can imagine I nearly laughed myself out of the chair as everyone seems to have the same problem. It could just be the tracker does count the steps while in exercise mode but doesn't log calories, but for some one logging steps on a serious mission could be frustrating lol I will let you know what they say from Fitbit ttfn Mick

Hey there @Mick50! Great to have you in the Community Forums! 🙂

I'd like to add to @WavyDavey's great answer... On bumpy trails it's possible that your tracker will register steps but these should be negligible in your overall stats. Since your Blaze has multisport mode (the second screen after the clock face), make sure you choose the Bike exercise before starting your workout. If you're relying on SmartTrack to automatically detect your bike ride, make sure the Outdoor Bike exercise is on. (In the app, tap the exercise title and then tap the gear icon in the top right.).

This should for sure take care of false steps not being counted while you're on your bike ride and at the same time, will give you a more accurate calorie estimation.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need more help!

Thanks for respone

I have my smart track turned off and log and choose bike in exercise, in a 53 minute bike ride it added a prox 200 calories to my daily burn. I checked the fitbit bike ride calories against another app and they where pretty close. What iam doing to cancel out the calories and steps is manually log a bike ride tapping bike and selecting mountain bike with the exact same time I rode my bike, this then gives two calorie counts pretty close to the original bike ride but removes the steps and calories created by the steps. I ride rough terrain so I clock a lot of steps. Iam still pleased with the blaze but I hope the tech lab come up with an update to enable turning of steps cheers all mick
