I got the Blaze a few days ago and I wasn't excited about not being able to reaspond to text messages. Could Fitbit soon make a future update so you could reaspond to messages?

This was never an intended feature. The connection is only one way.

Welcome to the Community @Future-Updates. I think it would be great but the Blaze display wasn't designed to have a keyboard. But you can always share your suggestions on our Ideas Boardwhich our product development teams consult regularly to ensure we're delivering on what our customers need and want. Please take a moment to visit and give us your feedback.

A keyboard isn't required, selecting from a list of responses (e.g. Yes, No, etc) would be helpful for basic text replies.

Hey there @Future-Updates @bbarrera. Good to see you around!

To add to what @AlejandraFitbit said, you can take a look at this feature request for replying pre loaded messages from your Fitbit Blaze. You may see the request by clicking here.

For being able to make calls from your Blaze, I didn't find any request so feel free to create your own in the Feature Request board.

Anything else, let us know!

The Apple Watch doesn't even use a keyboard, it just a voice dictation. After the user had said their piece, they click "Send". From there they are given the option to send as an audio message or a text message. I agree that it would be an awesome improvement, however it would require a hardware update which means existing Blazes would not be able to use the functionality because they do not currently have the audio detection piece. If they were to add that, another update could be to add an AI named Blaze so we can use voice commands to show certain data from workouts, steps, diet, etc..as well as send a message if need be.

THe Apple Watch also is running a true operating System, unlike your Fitbit.

Sorry @Lenabenasafi us guys are like you, we are simply users of the Fitbit product and not developers.

Did you check the feature request board for the suggestion?

Being able to except a call and not communicat via the fitbit is not functional Also seeing text messages and not being able to respond is not exceptable when other smart watches can get the job done. I Received mine as a gift and Iam  highly disappointed and will be returning mine.

Your decision @Emok2328, it is always good to do research before buying a product. Without a built in speaker or microphone the Blaze was never ment  to compete with the smart watch market even though they outsell the AW.

Hey there @Emok2328, welcome to the Community Forums!

As @Rich_Laue says, Fitbit Blaze doesn't mean to compete with smart watches but remains health oriented and that's the main focus as of right now. It is advertised as being able to receive notifications which is exactly what it does, in the case your phone is not nearby, you will be able to answer a call or be notified of a text you receive for you to see what it's about and to reply from your phone when you can.

Thanks a lot for your feedback though as it's always taken into consideration to build better products. If you need anything at all, let us know. We'll be happy to help!

Those other watches are also nearly $400 and are specifically designed and marketed to do those things. I'm not sure what the problem is. We all knew what they could do when we bought these things. It's one thing to compare a Fitbit to something like a Jawbone but to compare to smart watches that also happen to have fitness tracker capabilities is pointless.

It's not a smartwatch! It is a fitness tracker with "some" smartwatch features.

Hi there @Hearts08. Great to see you in the Forums! 🙂

What's the instruction of holding the side button exactly for?

I'm happy that the communication is one way, otherwise I would not be able to wear it at the prison I work at.  No smart watches are allowed, but fitness trackers are as inmates can't use them for illicit business.

Well, that's definitely a pro in your situation @D_sac!

The Pebble smart watch doesn't have a keyboard either.  It has canned replies to choose from or you can choose to voice reply. And didn't fitbit just buy Pebble? Why can't they do as well on the smart watch as Pebble??
