Unchecking a phone app to send notifications from doesn't save

I have the built in email app on my Galaxy Note 5 i originally set to send me notifications.  However, it started sending me multiple notifications for the same email, and i turned it off.  It doesn't appear to be saving that and I am still receiving notifications from my email app.  I go back into the settings, and it is checked again.  How come when i uncheck that app so it doesn't send notifications to my Blaze, it turns itself back on?  Why won't the setting save?  It wasn't on by default when i first setup my Blaze.

Im not sure why it won't save, but a workaround is to log out of the app, then log in.
