Volume control does not work on Fitbit Blaze

I have the Blaze paired to an iPod using Bluetooth Classic (do not get an option for the "ios" version of bluetooth).  I can pause, skip a track, and go back a track but cannot adjust the volume.  I have access to the volume screen but it does nothing.  If I try the up or down button OR touch the plus or minus, it goes back to the previous screen.  This totally defeats the purpose of hands free since all music is not recorded equally!!!  Was unable to locate anything the boards about this particular issue.

For anyone still struggling with volume control not working but everything else works fine...I downloaded the Fitbit app to my device & synced it & now it finally works 😁 Before I synced with the app it would control play/pause & skip but not adjust volume! Of course this is the new Gen 6 iPod touch, not my older Gen 4 which is not on the compatible list. Hope this might help some people out. Cheers.

Hi there @dthom. Good to see you in the Community! 🙂

I would like to know which app you're using for your music. There was a similar situation with another user that was unable to control the volume of a track but it was with an specific app called Pandora (see the post here) which could be your situation.

Regardless of that, I would recommend in the meantime to restart your tracker by pressing and holding the left and lower right buttons for 10-15 seconds. Once you do this, the tracker will come  back on by itself and you can try it out and see how it goes.

Let me know if you need more help!

Hi Ferdinand.  I am using Apple's standard no-name music app that came with the ipod.  Also, I read the other post that you mentioned and what I see on the volume screen is the plus sign, the volume speaker icon, and the minus sign. and when I press either button on the right side, it will either remain on the screen and the volume does not increase or decrease when pressing the buttons repeatedly or if you press and hold, it goes back to the clock screen.  Do you know of an app for the iPod that actually utilizes the volume controls which is the only reason why the Blaze, and not another model, was purchased.  Also, I've reset the Blaze several times to no avail.  Also, after you mentioned the device's operating system, I checked to see if any of the settings were preventing the volume from being adjusted (like a listening default for children) and there isn't anything like that.

Thanks for getting back @dthom 🙂

I personally use Deezer for streaming music on my phone but I've also streamed videos from youtube or the native music app on my iPhone and I've had no problem at all so far.

I've not heard of users having issues with the native music app on their phones so I don't think this would be a common problem. If after restarting your tracker several times doesn't fix  the issue, I'd recommend getting in touch with the Support Team and they will be happy to take a look into it and help you uout.

Hope this helps and let me know if you need more help!

Hi there @Lancelot. Good to see you around! 🙂

I would just like to make sure. Just to see if I understan. You mean that when you're using your Blaze you can not use the speaker on your phone to listen to things on your phone or is it always  that you can not use the speaker regardless of if you have  the Blaze connected or not?

Please provide as much detail as possible.

No.  It still does not work.  I gave up on it.  I've been thinking about giving this one away and getting the Samsung.

The problem is not the Blaze!!!
The problem is with the instructions in the guide. When you scroll down the clock to see the music playing, QUICKLY TAP and let go of the upper right button. The volume control with the "+ speaker -" will appear. If it goes back to the clock face then you have NOT quickly tapped the upper right button, instead you held it too long. Once you see the volume control, QUICKLY TAP, the upper or lower left button to control the volume. Once again if you hold it in too long, you will loose the volumn control.

I learned this by accident before getting into the car to return my 2 day old blaze to Verizon. It is 32degrees f. in NJ so I am glad I figured it out.

Someone needs to reprint the guide or manual for the Blaze.

Don't get the samsung watch! I bought it ONLY so I could control the volume of my spotify on my phone from my watch, and I swear that's the only thing it cannot do.

Think you had the same problem I have. Everything works except the volume control with the iPod! I checked that it's working on my android phone...the volume control works perfectly, just doesn't work with my iPod touch or my iPad Mini! I'm now looking at buying a different music player as Apple products never seem to like other devices/programs that aren't their own! Have you tried it with another device? It might be worth it before dismissing the Blaze. Whatever way you go, good luck.

@LouLouP are you able to pause your music on the ipod from your wrist?

Im wondering if the phone is to close and this bond is keeping the tracker from connecting to the ipod?

Thanks for replying. I use this for controlling my music when I teach fitness classes, so not close to my device. Yes it pauses/plays etc. It's just the volume, I think it's because my device is old (iPod touch 4th Gen). I've actually just ordered a new iPod Touch, fingers crossed 🤞

Which music app are you using, and how many have you tried?

Could this be a problem with the musi app?

The volume control is the two buttons not the screen.when you are in the music mode and music is playing click the top button then quickly click the bottom button then keep clicking up or down to change volume. Do not touch the screen. It's all about the clicks
