So you've developed a completely new device but still don't support CallerID,Text Messaging or Calendar updates on Windows Phone?

Considering Fitbit supports Windows phones, where did you see that the Blaze does not also support the features you listed?

Hi @adammiarka - It looks like initially, Blaze will only be compatible with iOS and Android.

Fitbit says that Call/Text/Calendar notifications will not work. (Just like on the Surge, Charge, and Charge HR)
But in addition the Connected GPS feature won't work either.
All of those features require that the mobile phone OS include a GATT Server which Microsoft has yet to do.
But the remaining features should work.

@supermoe@adammiarka@Ozzie65Blaze is compatible with Windows Phone. Check out which devices support call and text notifications here.
As for calendar updates, that feature is only available on iOS and Android at this time.

Did check features with many Windows phones none of the ones I tried has call and text notifications.
Can you list a few that do have txt and phone notifications? Don't mind getting a new phone as long as it is a Windows Phone 🙂
Thanks,

Exactly.....STILL WAITING for the features we were promised nearly a year ago, still trying to blame windows for their lack of inaction in developing the apps on this platform..... so annoyed right now

@Gooner21 Where did Fitbit promise notifications? Other than saying that they would make them available as soon as possible? (And currently it isn't possible with the feature set in Windows Phone 8.1 or Windows 10 Mobile.)

@DomBryan@Gooner21@MichaelTo clarify, Blaze is compatible with Windows phones for syncing, but does not support call/text/calendar notifications. As @Michael stated above, The Microsoft Windows platform does not provide a GATT server. Fitbit leverages this technology to provide notifications on our hardware. Microsoft and Fitbit are working together to bring a solution to our shared customers. Thanks for your patience.

When I bought mine (pre-ordered a month or 2 before launch), it was advertised that Notifications were available on Windows phone, Suggest you go back and look at all the posts from various other Windows phones users at the time when this first blew up.............. They have since updated the docs to be more clear but still, to blame Microsot/windows phone does nothing to fix the problem!!

Hopefully Microsoft will add the GATT features somewhere along the line so that the Blaze can work with a full feature set. I'm not a big calendar user but there are some things I can think of that would be useful on the wrist.

else Fitbit change completly to "old" BT specifications, and must update firmware on all devices, and all software (ios, android, windows phone, Fitbit connect), with a big risk of failure, and later the risk to move again to new BT specs when MS will implement GATT server, else Fitbit must support the 2 BT specs, old and new, and it would not be an easy task, and even an impossible one if the devices don't have enough memory.
Fitbit had choosen to work with modern specs.

I really don't think anyone is 'pandering' to anything. Fitbit have chosen their implementation and will integrate with compatible devices. I think it really is that simple. The fact that Windows Phone must be the smallest user-base of the three mobile OSs doesn't help the case, clearly, but I really wouldn't expect anyone to implement the same functionality twice in two different ways even if it were iOS that was stuck on the outside.
