You can view in the App, the dashboard and the exercise log, not the Blaze.

Tap track your exercise tile. On the next screen is a list of the recorded activities,  now click on one that shows a map.

does your phone setting need to say always use gps? or when app is open to use gps?
Best Answer

It should work either way.  Just make sure your location settings are on.

ahh i realized you must have the app on and pulled up.

My app doesn't have this option.

Let's go back to the Blaze, go to exercise, then swipe to walk/run. Before tapping the screen, tap the settings gear in the lower left corner.  Make sure it saus yes to GPS.

Exercise started from my blaze is not using the GPS, even though it's turned on in the phone and in the blaze settings.  If I start it from the phone, it logs my route and distance.  I know GPS is working on the phone because Zombies Run is still tracking distance and location.  (And I've run them both at the same time successfully before, so that's not it.)

To use connected GPS, notifications need to be enabled. From the manual:

When you use the Exercise menu, Blaze can track your activity for a wide variety of
exercises including runs, weights, spinning, elliptical, golf, and many more. If you
want to use GPS to track an exercise, bring your phone along. Our connected GPS
feature works with your phone to map your routes. Note that connected GPS is
currently not available with the Fitbit app for Windows 10.
To track an exercise:
1. If you’re going to use connected GPS with an Android device, make sure
you’ve enabled call, text, or calendar notifications.
2. If you’re going to use connected GPS, make sure Bluetooth and GPS are both
enabled on your phone.
3. On your tracker, swipe to the Exercise screen and tap it, then swipe to find the
exercise of your choice.
If you see a gear icon in the lower left, that exercise offers connected GPS. Tap
the gear to see an option for turning GPS on or off. Press the Back (left)
button to return to your exercise.
4. Tap the exercise to select. You’ll see the Let’s Go! screen.

Notifications are enabled.  Bluetooth and GPS are both enabled.  The Blaze appears in the 'paired devices' list in the Bluetooth screen.  Tapping the gear on Walk or Run shows Use Phone GPS as on.  Starting an exercise shows the 'connecting to phone' screen, and then it says 'Let's Go'.  But the recorded runs do not include route information.

The only thing that seems odd is that when it (supposedly) connects to the phone, the Bluetooth icon on the phone doesn't light up, which it normally does if there's an active connection.

I deleted the pairing and whent  through the whole setup process again.  Now I have bluetooth entries for both 'Blaze' and 'Blaze (Classic)', but even when I affirmitively pair through the phone, showing an active connection on Blaze (Classic), when I start an exercise it now says 'Phone Not Found' despite them being inches apart and already connected.  Very annoying.  Ultimately, I suppose I can keep starting my planned exercise routines through the app, but it's frustrating to see features that just fail to work.

Connected GPS is not supported on Windows phones. If you are using iOS, or Android, try restarting the tracker:

To restart your tracker:
1. Press and hold the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you
see the Fitbit icon on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
2. Let go of the buttons.
Your tracker should now work normally.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, try restarting your mobile device.

I'm using a moto E running Android 4.4.4.  I've rebooted everything, twice.  I do software QA for a living and can manage basic troubleshooting.  The Blaze almost always reports that it can't find the phone, even when the phone reports there is an active bluetooth connection to the Blaze.  On those rare occasions where it doesn't report that, either it can't hold the connection or just doesn't bother to tell me that it can't connect, as the distance the Blaze reports increases notably faster than the app actually using GPS.

The one thing I've noticed is that i get the cant connect, if my phone is unable to get a GPD lock, or the app isnt running. The app doesn't need to be in front, just running.

Again, both the Fitbit app and Zombies Run are using the GPS succsessfully.
