Hi, I bought my fitbit blaze about a week ago. I used it today and noticed that it is not tracking my steps. I have restarted the device but the problem still persists

Hey there @chisnear. Welcome to the Fitbit Community! 🙂

I'd just like to make sure. Is your tracker not recording your steps at all, meaning that when you walk, the step count will not change or is it that it's recording your steps but not accurately?

You mentioned that you have already tried restarting the tracker. Please just make sure that you have followed these instructions and see if it makes any difference.

Please keep me updated!

I am having a similar problem with steps periodically not tracking at all. I have tried to reset the device to no avail. Any suggestions?

I've had my fitbit blaze for about a month. I am having the same issue. Seems to track here and there but not consistently. I walk on my lunch break for a complete hour and have tracked it on my phone as just shy of 4 miles. At first my fitbit recorded it correctly for the first few weeks averaging about 9,500 steps a day but now my fitbit is showing way less even though I walked the same distance. I tried to reset it holding the bottom right and left buttons in but the problem still exist. I'm guessing my next step is to return it for an exchange?

Hi there guys @tlrice @sjpiranha. Welcome to the Community Forums! 🙂

I would recommend trying to set up your trackers as new devices. For this, just go into the settings on your accounts and choose: Set Up a new device. Follow the on-screen instructions and after the set up has completed, try it out and see how it goes.

Let me know if you need more help with this!

I tried it l this morning (restarted fitbit, restarted iphone, toggled Bluetooth on/off) and got really frustrated for an hour. In the end, the issue was resolved when I deleted the fitbit app from my phone and re-installed it.

My Blaze is off in the step counting by large amounts. My wife is using the Fitbit Zip and i have my Blaze. I have compared steps with her over the past few weeks and with my samsung smart phone. The Blaze is consistantly behind by about 2,000 to 6 or 7,000 steps. depending on the day. We just got back from a vacation in Disney and my phone tracked me at 23,000 for the day and the blaze barley had me at 15,500. I have no expectation that they would be exact, but almost 8,000 steps behind is too much. My wife had almost 23,000 on her Zip as well and her phone put us around the same area, so it was clear that it was the Blaze that was not keeping up. I know there was a firmware update aroudn the time i bought it and since then i've seen nothing but issues with tracking accuracy.

Is there another fix coming soon? I am most likely going to swap the blaze for another device. I like the form factor and the nortifications but if it can't count steps its of no real use.

Hey @jeststeve! Good to see you around!

I'm sorry that your Blaze is not counting your steps accurately. Recently, it seems that an update caused some users Blaze's not to be accurate but our team is currently working to get a fix for this and roll it out as soon as possible. Thank you so much for understanding and hopefully soon we will have everyone back on track!

Fitbit blaze tracked today's workout as yesterday's workout(4:40am). And hasn't tracked steps, miles and floors. Restated tracker 4x and restarted iPhone.

go to the firmware update thread for information as to WHY this is happening and hopefully to find out what steps will be taken to correct this.  My blaze is consistently shorting me milage and steps daily also.

Great to have you in the Community @pattydagreat! 🙂

As for what you describe, I would maybe think this has to do with your  Time zone. For making sure you have the time zone set correctly on your app, go to the lower right tab for your Account, here scroll down to Advanced Settings and once you're there, make sure you have the Time Zone set as "Automatic". This way, it will change if you go to a different time zone and all  the activities should be recorded for the correct time.

Hope this helps and let me know if you need anything else!

Hey there @Fands. Good to see you around!

In this situation, our team is already aware of some users experiencing discrepancies with their steps and total distance. Hopefully they will come up with a solution for this soon and thanks for your comprehension in the meantime!

well it's good that the team is "aware", but that is certainly not a solution.

I got off the elevator today at my work parking garage.  I checked my Blaze.  I count off 100 steps.  I got credit for 65!!!  this is ridicules and fitbit's customers (you know the people that forked over$200.00 plus tax) are not only annoyed but tired of hearing "the team is aware".

I am certainly not critical of the help and feedback you give us...but i hope that the "team" would see how MANY people are discouraged with this product and give you some hopeful news.

I am AGAIN taking this and other problems to support.  I am just disgusted with being ripped off.  thank you for reading.

I'm having the same issues. Plus my tracker is no longer recording active minutes. Frustrating!

I totally understand that @Fands and I'm sorry all this is giving you such a hard time. This is of course not a solution but our team is working hard to get everything to work as it was as soon as possible. Thanks for getting back.

In your situation @J-flex, I'd recommend restarting your tracker by pressing the left and lower right buttons for 10-15 seconds and then try it out and see if this makes a difference. Great to see you in the Community! 🙂

I got my Blaze mid-March. It was recording steps/stairs quite accurately until about 3 weeks ago. I noticed it wasn't counting all the flights of stairs for about 2 weeks. Then It started adding steps while I was in a rocking chair. It was a lazy day, and it buzzed to tell me I hit my goal, while in the chair. There was no way I hit 9,000 steps that day! I'll try restarting it. But for now, I've gone back to using my One. The One is way more accurate.

When is there going to be a fix for this? My friend let me borrow her HR and it seems much more accurate than my Blaze that I got in May. I have walked and ran with very inaccurate results. I am certain, because I ran at least one track and field certified course and the distance was off by almost .5 mile. I rarely get steps when I am working around house. I am active and find it extremely difficult to get my goal 10K steps.

today is the worst..i am ready to take this off and use the One again as soon as i charge it--(but if i disconnect the Blaze from my account--can i EVER get it to give me notifications again--that in itself can be a 45 minute job.).

it's 3:25pm here.  The Blaze says i have done 2575 steps, .80 of a mile.  Considering that i walked my dog a 1/2 mile this morning  and my walk from the parking garage to my office is lengthy, plus the walking i get in at work, it is way off.  my usual count around 10am is just over 3,000+ steps. it's now 6 hours later.

the "help" from customer service was to send me the link to troubleshoot the issues.  which i had already done.   and that they are sorry to hear i am having problems...no actual response on how and when it will be fixed.  i also have had problems with my notifications

this is truly a waste of my time and money.  the fitness tracker blaze watch does not work.  they cannot tell me when it WILL work--I want my $$ back (i doubt i will recieve that because this thing is now almost 3 months old--it's cost me almost $70.00 a month to be irritated.

I am having similar issues. My daughter has the hr and with similar activity she is recording 3,000 more steps. The same workout that a few weeks ago netted me over 5,000 steps today only gave me 3,000. But I was sitting down. Doing nothing and noticed by a slight move of my arm it was then recording steps... yet I over all I am now about 2-3,000 steps less than I was getting on average just a few weeks ago. Something is not right.
