step calculation in water

It would be a neat idea if Fit Bit could calculate how many steps based on miles. For example, I teach water walking frequently and walk about 2 miles in the pool during one workout. I can not wear it in the water but when I put in the activity on the app, if it could estimate based on average steps in a mile. Then I would not lose an hour of steps taken everytime I teach!

I do water walking also and  am not happy that I can log the time afterwards but lose the steps. I tried wearing the HR and just keeping my arms UP but that was areal pain trying to keep it from getting wet. I agree they need to get the steps to show based on average steps  per time or by mileage. I really can not afford to buy yet another fit bit (flex 2) just to have te waterproof feature.
