Dashboard shows calories left as one number then when I go to log food screen, the calories left is a different number. I have no deficit. This just started today after an update.

Same here and the app is using the lower #, when the dashboard # is the correct one. ..stared after upgrade...very frustrating!

Came here myself looking for answers, the dash board tells me I have 500 kcal left but then when I go to log my food it says I have 16 kcals left. Started after the update yesterday : (

Just a friendly bump, some help on this matter would be appreciated !

I'm having the same problem since the update, it -is- the update too as my partner was having the problem so I checked -before- updating.

The dashboard tile displays 484 Calories left:

The Food page displays 142 Calories left:

I'm more inclined to believe the Tile as it closely resembles what I should have left.
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S7Edge, Fitbit Alta HR.

I have not read any solutions to this problem since I have created this issue on the forums. I do have a theory though. Maybe the calories left on the dashboard tile shows the potential for the rest of the day based on  history of calories burned vs. Calories intake whereas the actual food log screen shows actual calories left at that point in time. Like I said though it is just a theory.

I called customer service. .apparently they know about this and their engineers are working on it..they said the dashboard is the correct #, but the app is using the lower # when you log food, which will definitely put me in or outta zone...very frustrating for those of us who log everything. .

Thank you for the update Baisdent, It most definitely is frustrating for those of us who log every single item we eat. I do so religiously and like to know I have at least 100 kcal in the bank at the end of the day.

Heres hoping it gets fixed soon! 🙂

We have the same train of thought.

I remembered that there were two ways of calculating your calories, one was based on your learned history, so a more predictive way. The other was based on the calories burned that day, so a more logical way. I thought they were using both calculations for the two pages, the tile would predict the day and the Food page would tell you based on your calories burned at that moment.

We weren't too far off 😄

Just a "Bump!"

It's now been approx 3 updates since posting this and the information is still wrong.

It's a key, 'core' feature of Fitbit; to track your calorie burn and measure your diet against it and it doesn't work or gives out misleading / confusing information.

Best Answer

Thanks for bumping this, I was only thinking the other day that there has been a couple of App updates since I commented on this and thought that they would have addressed this bug, Its really confusing and very annoying.

How long for a bug fix Mr FitBit?

Best Answer

@LisaJay

I completely agree, it's not a small bug especially when there are first-timers coming to fitbit and their App isn't upto scratch.

I was just over in another thread where somone was mentioning that for afew people the estimated calorie burn is off by about 600 calories, another thread was complaining about the GPS not tracking runs. It seems to me they can't and are very poor at, maintaining their App side of things. Even then My partner uses a Samsung Galaxy S3 for the App and it runs slow and barely manages to find her fitbit, how much processing power does it need to display this information? That and they recently spent time and money giving it a facelift when it didn't really need it and her hidden tiles keep reappearing every start, they also move about on their own.

Have you still been able to have your Prosecco? 😉

Chat to customer support

Justin:Hi Lisa, my name is Justin. How can I help you?
Flor:Hi Lisa, my name is Flor. How can I help you?
Me:Hi Justin . for several months now the screens on my app are showing differing figures on calories remaining. I have been told in the fitbit community that this is a known bug but still very confusing. Please help
Me:oh Flor now
Flor:I will be happy to help you with your inquiry about the calories.
Flor:May I have the email address associated to your account?
Me:lisa@lisaj.co.uk
Flor:Thanks, can you describe what type of figures has the app shown in the remaining calories?
Flor:May I have a screenshot of the figure that shows up right now?
Me:i'm messaging you on my pc but the app is on my phone so I cannot do a screen shot, I can tell you though.. 2 secs
Me:on the main screen it says 0 cals in, 892 cals left
Me:when I click on the tile, it says 0 cals in, 1021 cals out, 445 cals left
Me:a lot of people on fitbit community are saying that they are getting the same thing
Flor:Have you checked the information on the online dashboard if the issue is also happening on the dashboard?
Me:the initial figures that I gave you were from the dashboard
Flor:So, the issue is happening on both the online dashboard and the app?
Me:oh sorry, I am just looking at the app on my phone, I didnt know I could view it anywhere else
Flor:Ok, please click on this link https://www.fitbit.com/logout enter your email address and password to log in to your account and you will see the tiles on the online dashboard.
Flor:You will see two tiles one says "under" and the other says "left to eat"
Flor:The tile in the app, is a combination of these two tiles and should match with the tile of calories left. Let me know if they match.
Flor:Are you there?
Me:sorry, my pc froze
Me:doing it now
Flor:I am glad to know we are still connected.
Flor:Thank you.
Me:ok, so on link you just sent me it says on the dash I have 855 left and when I click on it, it also says 855. I am guessing that is correct?
Flor:If the calories matched that means it is correct. Do you have the specific link from the community where other users are reporting the issue that you are experiencing with the app?
Me:just getting it for you. But this means the app on my phone is incorrect
Flor:The tile on the phone should match with the tile on the dashboard that says "left to eat". Thanks for the information Lisa, this is helping me a lot to better understand the specific issue so I can report it
Me:https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-2/Calories-left-different-between-screens/m-p/2044292#M57911
Flor:Thank you Lisa.
Flor:Please hold a moment.
Flor:Thanks for the link Lisa and this is a very unusual situation. At the moment we still do not have an update about this situation but I would like to further investigate with the specialists.
Flor:I will contact them so they can look into it and as soon as I have an update I can contact you via email
Me:thanks so much for your help with this 🙂
Flor:Lisa, thank you for bring this situation to our attention, I have investigated and so far we do not have an update about this, I really want to provide you with the most accurate solution and this is why I will ask more about this to the specialist .
Me:is someone able to give some feedback on the community page ?
Flor:The community is constantly checked by the moderators and it is very estrange that they have not given an update yet. I will try to get you an update about this situation, the moderators should give an update about it any time soon.

Sorry for the late reply work seems to take over this week ;(

Thank you sooo much for linking up the chat, Am a bit disappointed that Fit bit dint seem to actually know about the problem. It's a pretty obvious one imo :P. However I just hope they actually fix it now and in a timely manner.

Me and my partner have recently bought a new Fit bit for his sisters birthday, shes a novice runner and hoping to learn the ropes. I just hope this problem isn't around when it finally gets sent to her.

Anyway thank you again Lisa, il be sure to keep bumping this thread until its fixed!
