How do I set notifications and turn off all day sync?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have two questions regarding notification on my Charge 2.

1. How can I recieve notifications from my email to my fitbit?

2) How do I remove the permanent Sync notification from my phone?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Erinfred40! Since you need to make a choice about encryption, before you get started read our explanation at Are notifications sent from my Android device encrypted?

Open the Settings app to review your phone settings. Confirm or adjust these settings:

  • Android version—Verify that the Android version is 4.4 or higher. Find this setting under About Phone or About Device.
  • Bluetooth—Bluetooth technology allows your phone to communicate with the Fitbit device. Verify that Bluetooth is on.
  • Do Not Disturb—This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off. Find this setting under Sound and notification.
  • Notifications—Your phone must be set to receive notifications before they can be sent to your Fitbit device. Check these settings:
    • Make sure your phone receives notifications while locked. Find this setting under Sound and notification.
    • If your Fitbit device can receive app notifications, make sure you can receive app notifications on your phone. For example, you can receive Facebook notifications on your Fitbit device, but only if you also receive them on your phone. Find the notifications permissions under Sound and notification.
    • Make sure the Fitbit app is allowed to run in the background on your phone. For more information, see Why is the Fitbit app sending a notification to my Android phone?

Set up the notifications you want to receive on your wrist. Make sure your charged Fitbit device is nearby.

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon > your device image.
  2. Tap Notifications.
  3. Tap the type of notification you'd like to receive (Text Messages, Calendar Events, Emails, or App Notifications), and make sure it's turned on.
  4. Choose which apps can send notifications to your Fitbit device. For example, if you'd rather see text messages from WhatsApp than Messages, change the Text messaging (SMS) app setting. (You can only choose one app per category.) This list shows the most common apps for these features:
    • Phone app—Dialer
    • Text messaging (SMS) app—Messages
    • Calendar app—Calendar
    • Email—Email
  5. If your Fitbit device can receive notifications from other apps on your phone, tap App Notifications and make your choices.
  6. If you want to require that only encrypted notifications can pass from your phone to your Fitbit device:
    1. Go back to the Notifications screen and tap Require encryption.
    2. Close and reopen the Fitbit app to start the bonding process required for sending encrypted data.
    3. If the bonding process fails, tap Re-enable and try again. Most phones bond immediately or after a few tries, but some phones can’t bond to your Fitbit device. See the list of devices with known issues at What should I know about using the Fitbit app on my Android device?
  7. If you receive messages in a language that doesn't use the Latin alphabet, for example Cyrillic or Arabic languages, your messages may not appear properly on your Fitbit device. To automatically convert unsupported characters into the closest Latin equivalent, tap Enable Transliteration.
  8. Sync your device.

On the other hand, in regards to the All-Day Sync, turn it off:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon > your device image.
  2. Find the option to turn off All-Day Sync.

Hope this helps!

I have my "all day sync" turned off on my Versa and it is still syncing constantly.  What do I do?

Hello there @QuilterLLR59, thanks for jumping in here! Even if you have all-day sync turned off, data automatically syncs to the Fitbit app throughout the day each time you open the Fitbit app. Your device syncs automatically when it's nearby.

To get more information, see How do Fitbit devices sync their data?

Please let me know if you have any questions present.

My Fitbit is syncing all day when I have it turned if and the app isn't open. I have even turned off phone notifications thinking that is why, but it still sends me notifications after it has synced. I want phone notifications, but not constant syncing

Me too. Sick of the constant syncing and resultant battery drain. guess all we can do is report it to Fitbit and hope they fix it. It all started with an update about 2 or 3 udpates ago. latest has helped a little with my battery but still syncing all the time.

I updated my fitbit last week and I now can't turn-off the all day sync. Must of been an error in the last update. Would be good if someone can tell me the fix. It is draining my phone battery big time.

How do I turn off the all day sync on my Fitbit Charge 2?

It is eating my phone battery! Makes it extremely difficult to do much of anything away from a charger.

Please fix this.

any update on this?

Best Answer

Anyone have a clue? This all day sync is killing my battery.

Best Answer

I just log out on the app to stop sync now

Turning off 'all day sync' seems not to be an available option anymore. Like the others reported, this is draining my battery. If this is related to the update, I hope it is corrected. I'd prefer more control of how my phone battery is used.

I hope so too! I got a fitbit for the first time ever 2 days ago. It lost 30% charge overnight! (With sleep tracking on). Which meant I had to charge it in the morning before leaving the house, else it wouldn't have lasted through the day. It was very annoying to have to charge it while I was active, rather than being able to wait until I'm sitting down for awhile in the evening.

The whole "up to 5 days charge" was a selling point for me. So it's very disappointing to not even manage 24 hours!

Me too.

But I think this is not the best method.
Fitbit is maintaining two wakelocks, I monitored them using Better Battery Stats (on Android) that alone are draining the battery.
Ideally, the function of turning off automatic sync should not be removed from the app.

Now on : Fitbit Blaze | Old Devices: Charge 2, Charge 3 ( dead )

This is driving me mad, last night my battery was at 58%, I wake up to 15%, all I've done is sleep. So frustrating and I can't work out how to turn all day sinc off!!!
