Activity point inaccuracies when hiking

My Charge 5 does a good job tracking my heart rate (thus activity points) when I'm doing any activity except hiking. This has happened a few times now. For example, I was hiking yesterday for 2 hrs 20 mins, of which at least 45 were intense cardio, if not "peak" (very steep incline, couldn't talk and walk, had to stop several times). After my hike, I checked my fitbit and noted only 1 cardio activity point, which is absolutely impossible. I have the fitbit in the proper location/tightness on my wrist, I've reset it, I've done all the things in all of the forums.  I'm wondering if there's an issue where one cannot use GPS at the same time, or inaccuracies occur.  Sweat can't be a factor b/c I sweat plenty during hot yoga.  Has anyone else had issues with hiking and activity points?  I feel seriously ripped off and there's nothing I can do to manually adjust anything.  I am trying to improve my heart health so this data is valuable to me.
