All the data on my Charge 5 is gone

The other night I opened up my Fitbit app on my connected phone where it asked me to log in. I thought this was odd but when I logged in ALL my historical data is gone (got the Charge 5 in January this year so lots of data) and my Fitbit had appeared to reset itself to factory settings (clock face had changed and it has removed my set alarms.)

How do I get all my data back?!

Hi there, @Frizzbe15. It's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm sorry to hear that all your data from your Charge 5 and Fitbit account is gone. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

As per the description of your post, it sounds like you've created a new Fitbit account, as there is no other explanation on why your data from the Fitbit app is completely gone. Have you made sure that the Fitbit account you're using now is the same you used since you first got your device? To check this, please follow the steps below:

  1. From the Today tab, tap the settings icon in the top left.
  2. Tap Account Settings, check the email in use.

If you find out that the email is not the one, please try logging out and logging back in to the original account. This way you can recover all previous data. Nevertheless, keep in mind that you will lost all data tracked from the day you realized your data was gone (probably the day you logged into a wrong account) until today that you're switching back to the original Fitbit account.

As a friendly reminder, note that most Fitbit devices store up to 7 days of detailed minute-by-minute data. If you wait longer than 7 days before syncing, you may only see the most recent week's detailed data. Summary data (calories, distance, steps, and floors) will be stored for 30 days. Nevertheless, if your Fitbit device was unpaired from your Fitbit account during this period of time, neither the 7 days can be recovered or restored.

Regarding the data gone from your Charge 5, if a factory reset was performed, take into consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

Hi Marre,

Thanks for your comment. I haven't set up a new account and I am logged into it correctly also and it shows a previous device in my account from years ago so I am certain this is the same account.

The factory reset was also not started by me, I only noticed this error as I checked my watch for the time in the evening and noticed a different clock face and then when I opened the app it asked me to log in again. On logging in, all data was gone and my watch device had also lost the recorded data for that day.

How can I get my data back if the account is correct?

Hi Marre,

Can you please let me know how I can recover my data that has been lost through no fault of my own?
