In case there’s anyone thinking of buying the Fitbit charge 5 don’t bother if you have tattoos on your wrists it just doesn’t work, I am fuming that this detail isn’t highlighted on sales to avoid a tsunami of watches being returned like mine it is not powerful enough to read your BPM or track sleep so mines going back and save for the Apple series 7

I just noticed the same, at least I have only one sleeve, except my free arm has metal plates n screws around the wrist which has always made me wonder if that effects readings.
i had an apple 7 that I gave to my wife since I only want a fitness trackers and the Apple Watch had more then I needed. Couldn’t say since I wore it on my non tattooed arm

Just found out from the Apple store and they have similar problems and it’s not going to be an easy fix until the developers design more stronger penetrating beam lights and even if they did it would be a separate class of light and may not be produced because of health intervention issues basically saying that these are getting closer to gamma rays that X-ray machines use so they say, so looks like I’m stuck with the charge 5 until the developers design an alternative that is safe for human use, but I wish all the manufacturers out there would place a warning out there to avoid people like me and many others from purchasing something that’s definitely not going to work over tattoos
