Charge 5 Battery lasting 1 day only

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I got a Charge 5 a two days back hoping to get more battery than my Galaxy watch active. To my surprise, the battery drained quite fast on 1 day. I charged it again to 100% and the battery drained fully within 24 hours. I am using default settings and did not track any exercise/GPS etc.I had used so many fitbit's over few years and none had such a pathetic battery life. Any suggestions?

Hi @vishalw  two days isn't long enough to get used to all the bells and whistles of a new Fitbit. Read this article on how to extend the battery and if this doesn't help, you'll need to get with support.

@vishalwtry checking the always on setting which would drasticly effect your battery life

Thanks @Odyssey13 . I had already gone thru the article that you shared above. I am using Charge 5 with default settings. So far no GPS usage. It is lasting only 1 day and not even 2. I had used several fitbit over last few years and still has Charge 4 and 1st gen Versa. None had this issue. I purchased Charge 5 mainly for battery life as I did not want to charge my Smart Watch every 1.5 -2 days (Galaxy Watch Active). I have been trying to reach out to fitbit support via chat and the page is no more available.

Update,

My Charge 5 drained fully at night.i recharged it and somehow the battery life was extended to more than 1.5 days. It died again and I am recharging it now. I will check the battery life again. If it is still bad then I plan on returning it.

I'm so disappointed with how awful the battery life is. I too only get a day per charge, and I've tried the troubleshooting in the article and it actually made it worse (I originally got 1.5 days). I need to contact support to figure out a return.

UPDATE:

The battery almost died (~3%) in less than 24 hours. I contacted support via phone as somehow the chat support was not working. I talked to the support person who took details like email and "checked something in the background". Eventually he told me that my case has been escalated to a different team and they will contact me via email in next 24 hours. Waiting for email...

@vishalw  @TactfullyBlunt  can you both check something is your GPS set to Dynamic that would be the best GPS setting as its not relying on the fitbit gps you both may have already tried it but its worth saying.

@GuardianSean- GPS was/is set to Dynamic. The tracker is running all default settings. No Always On either.

@vishalwokay that in my opinion would be the biggest culprit outside of always on for battery drain that i know of.

I have tried both your suggestions and neither one works.

Me too!

Support hasn't been much help. They told me to let the battery drain, charge it back up and then contact them again if it didn't hold a charge. This is ridiculous.

I did not get any response from support so far. The Charge 5 died again last night. If the support response is going to be, let the battery drain and recharge, then I had already tried that two times. Looks like a faulty product. I am returning it soon. Going back to Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2

@vishalw It sounds like you have a faulty battery.  My Charge 5 lasts 5+ days.  I would return yours or exchange it.  Draining in one or two days is not normal behavior.

Update:

I got a replacement unit. I will test it and share the experience soon.

Battery down from 100% -> 81 % in ~55 minutes. Lets seen how it behaves.

@vishalw That sounds very strange.  I charged mine yesterday afternoon and now over 12 hours later I'm at 86%.

This happened to me too. I contacted support and the only thing they recommend was to fully charge then sync 5 or 6 times  run the battery down and try again. Not overly confident that will work.

@vishalw I got two Fitbit charge 5 at the same time. I and my mom are using it. My battery drains quickly but my mom's battery is holding good charge. I am using android phone Galaxy s20 and my mom is using an iPhone 12.

I am thinking that on Android there is all day sync force enabled but on iPhone all day sync is not enabled. Could that be the reason?
