UPDATE: It's a day later, around 6 p.m., and I had a black screen. When I connected it to the charger the battery was dead! This is crazy ...
I just received my new Charge 5 and wore it just two days. This morning the battery was down to 12% and the sleep graph had reverted back to the simple chart. Charging it now. What else to do?
I wish I had read this forum before I bought it to replace my Charge 2 which also was losing power too quickly. I hope this isn't a consistent problem.
Thank you.

@fpk473 Sad to hear that your Charge 5 isn't working properly.
Please try to reset your device following theses instructions:
1.) Connect your Charge 5 to the charging cable which has to connected to a power source.
2.) Press the button on the flat end side of the cable 3 times within 8 seconds, holding each press for about 1 second.
3.) Wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.
If this won't work, I'd suggest contacting Fitbit support to get further assistance:

I wore the Charge 5 for three days and had to charge it three times. After reading the forum and doing all the reset suggestions, I decided to return it. I'm back to my Charge 2 for now and I'm going to do more research to decide what my next purchase will be. Thanks for your reply - appreciate it.

That's what I decided to do. When I read how long some people had been dealing with the problem I thought it was best to return it right away rather than run out of time to return it. Now I don't know what I should choose instead.
